May 21, 2023     43-9 Overhead console conduit for electrical wiring - (3 hours)       Category: Fuselage
Sanded the canopy where i put some flox yesterday.
Due to some interferences of the lights mounted on the console forward aluminum panel i had to reposition the tie-strap holders. I also decided to use heat shrink tube on each conduit termination and on the tie wrap positions.
The removal of the holders was not too complicated but it required a lot of sanding to remove the epoxy glue.
I trimmed the overhead console for the gas strut bracket and i traced the perimeter of the console on the top canopy.
I plan to use sikaflex to bond the overhead console. I will mask both the console (with back cutting as i did for the plexiglas) and the top canopy with two overlapping tapes in order to have a clear cut on the black sikaflex.
I also drilled additional holes for the clecos.
I plan to cover the console flange with a 2,5" fiberglass strip and epoxy to have a smooth transition from canopy to overhead console.
The objective is still to have the console in natural carbon fiber.
